Overview
13-8 Mo stainless steel is a type of martensitic precipitation hardening stainless steel designed for high-performance applications, including nuclear reactor components, aerospace components, and petrochemical industries etc.
The melting method for 13-8 Mo stainless steel is quite different from traditional AOD-melted common-grade austenitic stainless steels. When ordering 13-8 Mo stainless steel, vacuum melting is always a must. In practice, to give tight control of the alloying elements, minimize the gas and improve purity, double-melt VIM+VAR is commonly applied to melt 13-8 Mo stainless steel.
Features
13-8 Mo stainless steel features high strength, excellent fracture toughness and good transverse mechanical property. It also exhibits excellent stress corrosion resistance in marine environment. Due to its outstanding comprehensive performance, 13-8Mo stainless steel is widely applied in harsh environment conditions. The annealed 13-8Mo can be further strengthened with relatively low-temperature heat treatment.
