Overview
1.4313, F6NM or S41500 is a low-carbon martensitic stainless steel with zero notch ductility. As it is the key material for making water turbine of hydropower plants, 1.4313 is also called “hydropower stainless steel”.
In comparison with its counterpart 400 series ferrochromium alloys, 1.4313 (F6NM) has also added in it nickel and molybdenum elements, giving it excellent corrosion resistance and weldability. In addition, it can be heat treated to desired strength and hardness.
For its outstanding mechanical properties such as high strength, good toughness and wear resistance, F6NM has been frequently used for making pumps, valves, flanges, compressors, seats, bolts, and tubulars.
